Our California presence has grown in the last few years. There are currently very few Microsoft partners located in Northern California who specialize in Microsoft Dynamics GP consulting, leaving many customers unsupported. We see similar issues with the availability of Microsoft Dynamics GP support in Sacramento and other parts of Southern California. Our focus on Great Plains paired with several highly talented consultants located in San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Los Angeles, and San Diego leveraged us to grow as a company and support many successful California businesses.

One of Many Success Stories

A few years back, we received a request for our free system evaluation from one of the government agencies located near Sacramento, CA. After an initial introduction, we decided to visit their office and their plant. We sent over our local Microsoft Dynamics GP consultant to do a high-level evaluation of their system. After this visit and some deliberation, we established that the best next step was initiating a full Business Process Review of their system. For this project, we selected one of our most experienced GP consultants from our Los Angeles office. Part of our decision-making process was selecting a consultant whose background matched the client’s industry.

Soon after the initial meeting, the client switched to us, and we became their Microsoft VAR/Microsoft Partner. We were able to quickly review their renewal and their Microsoft Dynamics GP keys. This client had the most 3rd party software solutions for Microsoft Dynamics GP that we had ever seen – over 10 different solutions. However, most of them were not installed or deployed. It seemed that their previous Microsoft Dynamics GP partner did not have a plan on how those solutions would be used and did not proceed with their deployment. To us, it looked like all the software solutions were about a sale, not about what client needed. On top of that, after reviewing their renewal we noticed that about $24,000 was added to their renewal invoice for no valid reason. To say the least, we were very relieved that the client decided to switch partners and did not continue working with their previous Microsoft VAR.

To understand the client’s current needs and decide on which 3rd party software should be deployed, we proceeded with scheduling the Business Process Review. We generally quote 24 hours for this type of project, however, in this case we quoted 60 hours due to the complexity of the system and business processes. We sent two consultants to Sacramento—one from Los Angles and one from San Francisco. From here, we were able to deliver a full Business Process Review with system documentation in under 24 hours.

Based on what our consultants observed, we were able to make decisions regarding which third party solutions were needed, ones that could be removed, and ones that should be deployed.

affected their company in the following ways:

• Annual savings of $24,000 that was previously billed by their old Dynamics GP partner for unknown additional charges.
• Annual savings of $19,000 on renewals of 3rd party software solutions that the client did not need.
• Full system documentation based on our Business Process Review with clear direction for the system design and how it will need to change in the future.
• Dexpro performed a Microsoft Dynamics GP Upgrade which included removal of unused 3rd party solutions.

We were able to combine her visit with a Sacramento GPUG chapter meeting and she trained several clients, some of them located in San Jose, CA as well as San Francisco, CA.
• Several 3rd party solutions were deployed following the plan and vision for client’s system.
• Dexpro assigned dedicated GP consultants to this account to properly support the client’s needs.
• Dexpro was able to put our best practices for Microsoft Dynamics GP in place as well as our proactive approach to consulting. This drastically eliminated the client’s amount of GP support needed.

The company has been a client since 2018 and their cost for Dexpro services still has not yet reached the initial amount we saved them on their renewal. Outside of the obvious financial value, the client is receiving top level Microsoft Dynamics GP support. Their system is up to date, they are using the best 3rd party solutions that actually fit their business model, and they are utilizing all the system capabilities that they already own.
